This qualification is designed for individuals looking to enter the dog grooming industry, as well as those already working in the field who wish to advance their careers, or for pet owners wanting to enhance their grooming skills for their own dogs.

The program equips learners with comprehensive knowledge and skills across various essential areas for dog groomers, including:

• Canine first aid

• Coat maintenance and preparation

• Dog handling

• Customer experience

• Health and safety

• Animal welfare and legislation

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners may progress to higher-level qualifications within the animal care sector, advance to the Level 3 Diploma in dog grooming, or pursue employment opportunities in the industry.

Personalised Guidance and Portfolio Development

Learners will receive one-on-one guidance and instruction while preparing a portfolio that meets breed standard specifications. A minimum of four dogs must be completed before assessment. Each learner will receive a journal to document their work, which includes:

• Written questions

• Evidence of grooming four different dogs, including style plans, health checks, and witness statements

In their own workplace, learners must demonstrate grooming four distinct breeds, ensuring each dog represents a different coat type, such as combination, wire, silk, and double.

For each grooming session, the following must be documented:

• Before and after photographs

• A style plan for the intended groom

• A health assessment

• A recorded witness testimony

All of these requirements are thoroughly detailed in the learner's journal.

Qualification Recognition and Career Relevance:

This qualification will showcase to employers and the public that you possess the essential technical skills and knowledge needed to groom a variety of dogs to a commercial standard. It is a formal, regulated, and nationally recognized qualification that will remain relevant throughout your career.

This program is specifically tailored for aspiring professional dog groomers or those already grooming dogs who do not yet hold a nationally recognized qualification.

The qualification is nationally accredited and Ofqual regulated, forming part of our commercial grooming course.
